Decision analysis emerged as a distinct academic field in 1964, building on developments in systems engineering and dynamic probabilistic systems by Ron Howard and statistical decision theory and game theory by Howard Raiffa.
The Society of Decision Professionals created the Raiffa-Howard Award for Organizational Decision Quality to recognize this anniversary of DA, to honor the founders, and to advance the appreciation of DA and Decision Quality.
